Nurse Resume Template
A nurse resume built from a real job ad in a company: the licence to practise at the top, a ward and a length of service, traceable care and occupational health and safety.

The candidate of this template is fictional: keep the structure, replace the content with yours.
This template belongs to a nurse applying for a job with a company in Douala, Cameroon. The job is not in a hospital: the nurse looks after the staff's health, keeps the records and makes every act traceable, and takes part in occupational health and safety work (first aid, prevention, awareness sessions). The ad asks for a state nursing diploma, a valid licence to practise and 2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role. The candidate is fictional and the figures are examples: keep the structure and the way each line is written, then replace the content with your own background. Here you will find the words from the ad that matter, a resume line for each and a template ready to download as PDF or Word.
What the recruiter is really looking for
A nurse who is licensed, proves her experience, records what she does and can work inside a company.
Valid licence to practise
It is the first thing the recruiter checks. Put it at the top of the resume, in the header or the first box, with the body that issued it, not at the bottom of page two.
2 to 5 years of experience in a similar role
"Nursing care" says neither where nor for how long. Give the ward, the length and the volume: "Internal medicine nurse, 3 years, around thirty patients a day".
Keep records and ensure the traceability of care
Write what you keep and how often: "Patient records updated every shift; care log and pharmacy checked every week".
Occupational health and safety
This is what sets this job apart from a hospital post. List your first aid, prevention work and awareness sessions, even if you did them during an internship or a replacement.
Rigorous
Do not write the word as it is: everyone does. Show it with a task and a frequency, such as "pharmacy checked every week".
Adapt this template to your application
- Under your name, write the exact job title from the ad: "State Registered Nurse · Occupational Health".
- In the top box, put your licence to practise, your diploma and your training (first aid, occupational health and safety).
- For each job, give the ward, the length of service and a figure: patients, employees followed or shifts per month.
- Add a line on traceability: patient records, logs, pharmacy, written handovers.
- If you have worked in a company, a school or on a worksite, describe the prevention and awareness work you led.
- Keep it to one page with a clear, professional photo.
The .docx can be edited in Word; the PDF is ready to send. Replace the example figures with your own: in an interview, you will be asked where they come from.
Frequently asked questions
Is this resume template free?
Yes. The template downloads for free as PDF and Word.
I have never worked in a company. Can I still apply?
Yes, if you have the nursing experience the ad asks for. Highlight whatever comes close to occupational health: first aid, prevention campaigns, awareness sessions on a ward or during an internship.
My licence to practise is still being processed. What should I write?
Say so clearly, with the step you have reached: "Licence to practise: application submitted". Never present it as granted: it will be checked.
Should this resume have a photo?
This template has a square photo on the right, as many recruiters in Central and West Africa expect. Choose a sharp photo on a plain background, in professional clothes. If the ad asks for a resume without a photo, remove it.
Will this resume get through applicant tracking systems?
The text runs in one column, but the box and the photo can confuse some tracking systems. For an application by email read by a person, this is not a problem; for an online portal, check that the text copies cleanly from the PDF.
Does this template work for other health jobs?
Yes: midwife, care assistant, laboratory or pharmacy technician. Keep the structure, with diplomas and licences first, and replace the keywords with those from your own ad.
